Springe Mix!

If you love the Springe Jumpsuit Sewing Pattern and the Springe Dress Sewing Pattern, and want more (!!!) then mixing and matching the tops and bottoms will give you loads more ways to wear it. They are stand alone sewing patterns, but can be mixed with a little adjustment to the sewing pattern.

The main differences between the dress and the jumpsuit are as follows:

  • The Springe Dress Sewing Pattern has the zip on the side seam and the Springe Jumpsuit Sewing Pattern has the zip at the back with a keyhole opening. For the jumpsuit sewing pattern, it is necessary to keep the zip on the back so that you can get in and out easily. For the dress sewing pattern the zip can be switched around.

  • The jumpsuit sewing pattern bodice is about 1cm longer than the dress sewing pattern to allow for ease of fit. This difference is in the back bodice and front waistband sewing pattern pieces.

  • The sleeve extension was made primarily for the jumpsuit sewing pattern, but can also be used for the dress sewing pattern.

  • The armhole openings are different on each sewing pattern.

To make the dress bodice into a jumpsuit sewing pattern, you will need to switch the zip opening to the centre back. This is to make it possible to get in and out.

  • Add a back seam to the DRESS BACK BODICE sewing pattern piece by adding 1.5cm at the centre back fold line and cut 1 pair.

  • Replace the BACK NECK FACING with the one from the jumpsuit sewing pattern (and follow the jumpsuit sewing pattern instructions for how to insert it with the zip at the centre back).

  • Optional: To extend the length of the bodice, add 1cm to the DRESS BACK BODICE hemline. Then use the JUMPSUIT WAISTBAND (which is already 1cm longer).

To make the jumpsuit bodice into a dress sewing pattern, you can either keep the zip opening at the back or move it to the side seam.

  • To move the zip to the side seam, sew the JUMPSUIT BACK BODICE all the way from hem to neck at the centre back and replace the BACK NECK FACING with the one from the dress sewing pattern. Then insert the zip at the side seam.

  • Optional: Reduce the length of the bodice by cutting 1cm off the hem of the JUMPSUIT BACK BODICE and then use the DRESS WAISTBAND (which is already 1cm shorter).
